Common Questions
Answered

Practical notes for joining a Black Atlas Co expedition, from booking status to kit, field conditions, and registering interest in future routes.

01

Who are the expeditions designed for?

Our expeditions are built for photographers who want access to remote terrain, rare viewpoints, and close guidance in the field. You do not need to be a professional, but you should be comfortable spending long days outdoors with your camera.

02

What photography level do I need?

A working knowledge of your camera is helpful, especially aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focusing modes. Tuition is kept personal in small groups, so guidance can be adapted to confident beginners, enthusiasts, and experienced photographers.

03

What does "Scouting Now" mean?

Scouting Now means the expedition route, timings, access, and logistics are still being refined. You can register interest and we will share details when the trip is ready to open for bookings.

04

What is included in an expedition?

Inclusions vary by location and are listed on each expedition page. They usually cover the core field programme, expert tuition, planned logistics, and the accommodation or transfers stated in the itinerary.

05

What equipment should I bring?

Bring a camera system you know well, weather protection, spare batteries, enough memory, and lenses suited to the subject. A detailed kit list is sent before departure, including clothing and field essentials for the terrain.

06

How physically demanding are the trips?

Each expedition has its own difficulty rating. Remote photography often involves early starts, uneven ground, changeable weather, and carrying equipment, so check the expedition page carefully before booking.

07

How do bookings work?

Available expeditions show open sessions and booking options. Fully booked expeditions remain visible for reference, but cannot be reserved. Future expeditions invite registration of interest until dates are confirmed.

08

Can I arrange a private or bespoke trip?

Yes. If you are looking for a private expedition, brand assignment, or tailored photographic journey, contact us with the destination, timeframe, group size, and subject matter you have in mind.
